Asbestos testing

During the most recent expansion of our buildings, Normec expanded the Civil Engineering Department with a laboratory for asbestos research. This meets the strict safety and quality requirements for this field. The OVAM recognized Normec Servaco as one of the first asbestos laboratories in Flanders.

Qualitative and quantitative asbestos research

Our experts focus on qualitative and quantitative asbestos research for you.

  • Expert sampling of materials containing or suspected of containing asbestos

    Normec is also specialized in fieldwork research for asbestos in soil. This is done manually or mechanically with a hydraulic excavator. We carry out the sampling for you via asbestos pits, trenches and pendulum movement. We do the sample preparation (sieving and reduction of the field sample) for you on site or in our asbestos laboratory.

  • Qualitative and quantitative asbestos analysis

    Normec's asbestos laboratory is fully equipped and approved for qualitative and quantitative analyses of asbestos. Do you want to know whether or not a particular material contains asbestos? And, if so, what type of asbestos is involved? Our experienced asbestos laboratories will examine it for you using various microscope techniques. This will give you quick answers to your questions. (qualitative analysis) The asbestos department also checks whether soil or rubble samples are contaminated with asbestos. To do this, they determine the amount of free and adhesive asbestos fibres present (quantitative analysis).

  • Safety first

    Normec provides an extra layer of safety during asbestos research. The team receives thorough training in asbestos detection and is equipped with all specific personal protective equipment. When carrying out the assignment, the employees follow strict safety regulations. Only those with a safety certificate drive the hydraulic mini-excavator. The asbestos laboratory itself is under negative pressure. In addition, advanced filter units continuously filter the indoor air. This is how we ensure the safety of our employees and the environment.
