Chain assurance
Corona, the war in Ukraine, and climate change are putting more pressure on the food chain than ever before. This is causing shortages of raw materials, such as sunflower oil, wheat, and packaging materials, and consequently higher raw material prices. Purchasing raw materials at the lowest possible prices is important for companies to continue producing as efficiently as possible, but the importance of purchasing safe raw materials must always come first. The quality department has its hands full ensuring product safety in the chain and sees the risks of purchasing potentially unsafe raw materials too quickly: creating a danger to public health, consumer fraud, and possible recalls with far-reaching consequences, such as high costs, damage to reputation, or even factory closures.

The importance of good chain assurance
A food-safe product can only be achieved if all links in the chain comply with the appropriate food safety requirements. Purchasers must be aware that good chain assurance is much more difficult to achieve in complex and long chains. A simple raw material can sometimes have traveled a long way, passing through several links in the chain, before it reaches the production company. The accessibility of suppliers must also be taken into account.

Supplier audit
As a purchasing party, you are expected to check the agreements with your supplier and make them demonstrable. However, these agreements are becoming increasingly difficult to secure remotely. We are therefore happy to check whether your chain assurance is in order. This way you can be sure that the food safety, quality and/or contract agreements with your supplier are guaranteed.

Sustainability advice and guidance
Sustainability is high on the agenda for many companies in the food chain. Food systems emit 29% of global greenhouse gases and food production is linked to 70% of biodiversity loss on land. These are just a few figures from the WWF's Plan for the Planet. But where do you start and how can your company contribute to a better world?

Witness-audit
Each quality mark has its own rules and requirements to comply with. Do you want to have certainty about the correct assessment of the standard during audits or inspections? Let our specialists perform a witness audit. In this way we help you to clarify the differences in interpretation of the standard and to identify areas for improvement for the certification body or inspection body.
