IFS Food
IFS Food is aimed at food processing companies and companies that package loose food products. The standard contains many requirements relating to compliance with customer specifications. This makes the standard important for private label manufacturers. The IFS (International Food Standard) is a GFSI-recognized standard in the field of food safety. The standard was drawn up by the HDE, the German trade association for food distributors. Later, the French retail trade association FCD and Italian organizations such as ANCC, ANCD, and Federdistributione also joined.
Reason for change
IFS considers it essential to continue to anticipate upcoming changes in the market. In view of the update of the General Principles of Food Hygiene (CXC 1-1969, rev. 2020) of the Codex Alimentarius in November 2020 and consultation of the new ISO 22003-2 standard for product and process standards, it has been decided to proceed with a revision of the IFS standard from version 7 to version 8. The revision also enables IFS to incorporate valuable feedback from stakeholders on IFS Food version 7.
