A higher level of quality for Hygiena
Hygiena wanted to implement IFS Wholesale. However, this proved to be a complex process that required a solid plan of action. With the support of Normec Foodcare, the desired quality system was successfully implemented. Hygiena also achieved an outstanding score of 97.93% for the IFS Wholesale certificate.
IFS Wholesale implementation at Hygiena
Hygiena is a Belgian wholesaler specializing in organic, natural, and bulk products, as well as ecological, biodegradable non-food products. Hygiena wanted to implement IFS Wholesale and chose Normec Foodcare because of its professional approach and excellent knowledge of food safety and product quality. Laura, Supply Chain Manager Hygiena NV/SA: “The communication was very open and honest. We just felt that it was right.” After a good discussion, it became clear that implementing this quality standard would be no easy task. Together, we drew up a thorough plan of action and set to work with confidence.
Development and implementation of the quality system
During a predetermined period, regular visits were scheduled to set up the intended quality system. Our Quality Advisors provided the necessary explanations to management and, of course, to the employees on the work floor, because quality assurance must be supported by everyone. This resulted in a two-part solution. On the one hand, a detailed and up-to-date quality manual and, on the other hand, an implemented care system on the work floor that can be successfully audited.

Certificate with an excellent score
Quality Advisor Maxine was happy to help Hygiena improve and optimize their quality systems. "Implementing the IFS Wholesale standard during this difficult period was quite a challenge. But thanks to Hygiena's many years of experience, the quality system could be fully documented. It was a pleasure to work with Hygiena's close-knit team. I am therefore very proud of the fantastic result we were able to achieve together."
The implementation has now also been rewarded with an IFS Wholesale certificate with an excellent score of 97.93%. This opens up new opportunities for Hygiena. On the one hand, it allows them to reach a larger target audience for sales, and on the other hand, it is proof of the excellent quality they deliver.
A higher level of quality
The collaboration will continue in the future. Maxine is currently supporting the quality department and management. In this way, Maxine ensures that changes in legislation and changing standards are correctly implemented and incorporated. Internal audits are also very important. All processes are reviewed annually to ensure that there are no hidden gaps. This raises Hygiena's quality level even higher. The goal is to succeed again in 2021 and achieve a score that is just as excellent as this year's.
