Normec Servaco is this year celebrating its fiftieth anniversary as your partner in industrial analysis and research. We proudly look back on fifty very beautiful years.

Half a century of experience

"Servaco was founded in 1973 by my father, who was a clinical biologist. However, he spent more time in business than in medicine and when he heard through his network about the construction of a new motorway and understood that a laboratory was needed to test the asphalt, he seized the opportunity with both hands. This is how he came to establish Servaco." - Nico Van Landuyt, former Servaco director and current Director of Laboratories at Normec Foodcare.

Originally, Servaco only carried out structural testing and its scope was relatively limited. When Nico Van Landuyt took over from his father, Servaco expanded further: services were added to the scope and the company developed further. Jan Goossens is now the current Managing Director at Normec Servaco. He can still clearly remember his start at Servaco:

‘There was a position available at Servaco for a commercial consultant for the Antwerp/East Flanders region,’ says Jan. 'As a client of Servaco, from my former job, I knew Servaco quite well. Because the application procedure was managed by an external agency, Nico didn't know I had applied. When I bumped into him at an environmental fair and told him I had applied for a job at Servaco, he was pleasantly surprised. On a beautiful Saturday morning Nico called me to tell me I had been hired, and my first working day was Monday 3 March 1997.' - Jan Goossens, Managing Director Normec Servaco.

Meanwhile, in fifty years, Normec Servaco has grown into an accredited, independent, multidisciplinary laboratory for industrial analysis and research in the fields of environmental and structural engineering.

Cuvée Jubilée

The anniversary was celebrated grandly with an anniversary party on 16 September. In the morning, more than 400 employees and family members were welcomed for a guided one-hour tour of the company's various departments. Through demonstrations, attendees were given a behind-the-scenes look at Normec Servaco's daily operations. In the evening, the day ended with a big party, where a special beer was not to be missed. In honour of the 50th anniversary, Normec Servaco brewed its own beer: Cuvée Jubilée. A beer with a full but fresh taste with the addition of citrus hops, coriander, ginger and light hints of orange peel, lemon peel and lemongrass.

A proud team

With great pride, the Normec Servaco team looks back on fifty very good years. The company started with 30 employees in the 90s, but today there are 160 employees working at the sites in Wevelgem, Puurs and Hasselt.
