Target group

This lecture series covers the most important developments for professionals in QA management who want to stay up to date on the latest developments and their significance for the field. The programme offers insights from science, combined with relevant practical experience from guest speakers.

Who will be teaching the lectures?

During the lecture series, expert speakers will share knowledge from science and practice. An online platform will give you the opportunity to submit questions and cases in advance. Programme subject to change.

Program

The lectures will be held on the campus of Wageningen University and Research. The lectures start at 4 p.m. and end around 7:45 p.m. This includes a break of approximately 45 minutes during which a light meal will be served.

  • How can you better assess (microbiological) risks?

  • How can you prevent a quality and food safety crisis?

2. Effective digitisation Patrick Strijker, Normec Foodcare and guest speaker

  • How can the right approach to digitisation help to proactively improve product and process quality?

  • What are the new insights and technologies?

  • Why is digitisation indispensable for today's quality managers?

  • What are some striking practical examples?

3. Risks of change in the food environment Karen Schellens MSc, WFSR and speaker Normec Foodcare

  • What is the influence of the changing food environment on contaminants?

  • Case studies on circularity, protein transition and climate change

  • Interaction on monitoring and safeguarding potential hazards.

4. External assessment and enforcement Jan Eliën, NVWA and Brenda Tijseling, Normec Foodcare

  • Certification and enforcement by the NVWA ensure (self-)regulation within the food industry, with food safety as an absolute priority.

  • This is where actual risk management and internal and external transparency come together.

5. Audits and quality culture Dr. Pieternel Luning, WUR and Dennis ten Thije, Normec Foodcare

  • How do you build an internal culture and systems to ensure thorough quality control?

  • How can internal audits contribute to lasting internal improvements?

  • What do customers and consumers want, and how do you guarantee that?
