Nutritional analysis

The minimum requirements for labelling food products are prescribed by law. This also includes correct nutritional labelling. Our laboratories provide support in determining the nutritional values of food products by performing the appropriate analyses.

Nutritional analysis at a glance

  • Determination of the nutritional values of a food

  • Basis for determining the correct packaging labelling

BIG 7

For food products, seven nutrients, known as the 'BIG 7', must always be listed per 100 g or 100 ml of the food product. If special information about vitamins or fibre, for example, is provided on the packaging, this must also be included in the nutrition facts table.

  • Nutrient group BIG 7: Energy (kJ/kcal), fat, saturated fatty acids, carbohydrates, sugar, protein, salt

  • Nutrient group BIG 8: Energy (kJ/kcal), fat, saturated fatty acids, carbohydrates, sugar, protein, fibre, salt

Frequently asked questions

Our nutritional analysis covers the mandatory “BIG 7” nutrients: energy (kJ/kcal), fat, saturated fat, carbohydrates, sugars, protein, and salt. If needed, we can also include fibre or specific vitamins (BIG 8), depending on your labelling requirements.

Accurate nutritional values are legally required on packaging. Our lab tests provide reliable data to ensure compliance with EU regulations and help you prepare correct and market-ready nutrition labels.
