Normec Abiolab publishes in the international scientific journal: Journal of Virological Method

The research conducted by Normec Abiolab's R&D department aims to improve existing analysis techniques in terms of efficiency and sensitivity, but also to explore innovative solutions, particularly in the field of virology. It is in this context that part of its work on activated carbons was published in February in one of Elsevier's scientific journals: Journal of Virological Methods (vol. 303, May 2022, 114496) under the title: Potentialities of a mesoporous activated carbon as virus detection probe in aquatic systems.

The publication is the result of work carried out by seven researchers from three research laboratories in France (EDYTEM at the University of Savoie Mont-Blanc, IBS at the University of Grenoble Alpes, and a CEA laboratory (CEA-LITEN, DEHT) in Grenoble) and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST, Tsukuba) in Japan.

The results demonstrate the performance and limitations of an adsorbent material (activated carbon powder) when used to collect viruses in wastewater. They show that it is possible to develop automatic sampling devices using this material.

Normec Abiolab: Preserving water quality in the face of PFAS challenges

Starting January 1, 2026, water quality regulations will change. From then on, 20 PFAS will have to be analyzed for drinking water health checks, with particularly strict quantification limits. In this context, Normec Abiolab has invested in the PFAS project with the aim of meeting these new regulatory requirements. Normec Abiolab accelerates its growth in the Pays de la Loire region

On February 28, Normec Abiolab acquired AVIMAR, a laboratory based in Challans (85) in the Pays de la Loire region. Specializing in food hygiene and safety, AVIMAR supports the livestock, agri-food, and marketing sectors, from farm to table. The laboratory offers animal health, food hygiene, and water analysis services, as well as inspection, audit, consulting, and training services, particularly in occupational risk management.

Normec Abiolab accelerates its growth in the Greater East region

Normec Abiolab is expanding with the acquisition of the QUALHYGIENE laboratory, located in Metz (57), and the food safety consulting company ALPRECO, based in Seyssinet (38).
