Summa Canisters
Soil Vapour
Summa canisters offer a superior alternative to Tedlar® bags and Sorbent Tubes, eliminating the need for a separate pump. Simply opening the stainless steel valve allows the air sample to enter over a set period, requiring no additional equipment. Once the sample is collected, the valve is closed, and the canister is sent to the laboratory. Summa Canisters also offer a longer holding time for VOC analytes in compatison to the tedlar or Flexfoil gas bags, typically for gas bags sample holding times are stable for up to 5 days, whereas for Summa the holding time is up to 21 days.
Before sampling, the canister is evacuated to a vacuum of approximately -30 inches of mercury (in/Hg), ensuring accurate and uncontaminated air collection.
