Normec Dumea maintains close contact with J. van Leijsen B.V.
As with any manure intermediary, J. van Leijsen B.V. must have every manure load sampled and analyzed. Normec Dumea carries out the mandatory manure analyses for J. van Leijsen B.V., but goes a step further.
Legally required sampling
J. van Leijsen B.V. has specialized for more than 30 years in transport operations, contract work, and manure distribution. From manure intake and removal to manure processing, the company offers a very comprehensive range of services to its customers. The company was founded by Joop and Henrietta van Leijsen. Their daughter, Minke Hage – Van Leijsen, is responsible within the company for arranging the manure analyses.
Minke: “We transport manure from Brabant to Zeeland. We collect manure from livestock farmers and then deliver it to arable farmers for use on their land. It is legally required that every load of manure is sampled and analyzed to determine the phosphate and nitrogen levels. This ensures that the soil can be fertilized optimally and prevents over-fertilization.
Always prepared for change
Every slurry tanker is equipped with a sampling device as standard. During loading, it automatically produces a laboratory sample. For the analysis of these samples, J. van Leijsen B.V. purchases a total package from Normec Dumea. The company has been a client for about ten years, after previously working with another laboratory. Dumea handles the transport and analysis of the laboratory samples and also performs independent sampling of the solid fraction.
According to Minke, the contact with Normec Dumea works very well: “We are truly very satisfied. You never feel like a burden when you approach them with questions. In the manure sector there are seasonal peaks. In spring, a lot of manure is applied to the land. For arable farmers it is important to know how much animal manure they are still allowed to spread before they have to switch to artificial fertilizer. Then I can always call the lab to ask when the analysis will be ready. Normec Dumea simply understands how our world works.”
In the manure sector, rapid changes can occur at any time, especially due to new legislation. According to Minke, Normec Dumea is always prepared for this: “When certain developments are coming up in the sector, they are already working on them proactively. That is very reassuring for us.”

Additional information as an extra service
Normec Dumea's proactive approach is an important reason why J. van Leijsen B.V. has been working with them for many years, says Minke. The speed and quality of the analyses are also important factors: "We have 10,000 samples analysed every year, because we have 20 lorries on the road. So the excellent communication with Normec Dumea is definitely an advantage. What's more, they provide us with additional information about the manure, such as its dry matter and organic matter content. This enables us to offer our customers extra service. Arable farmers want good manure. Normec Dumea's analyses enable us to substantiate this. We can advise livestock farmers to adjust their animal feed based on the values in the analyses. Ultimately, everyone wins."
