We are leading in Aggregate & Rock Testing
Aggregate & Rock Testing
Aggregates have been a key component in construction since the time of the Egyptian pyramids. Today, they play a vital role in the production of concrete, asphalt, and road construction. Aggregates come from two main sources: primary and secondary. Primary aggregates are naturally occurring materials, such as limestone, granite, and alluvial sands and gravels, that have been excavated and processed for construction use.
Secondary aggregates are sourced from recycled materials, including crushed concrete, crushed brick, glass, and bituminous road planings. To ensure quality and performance, all aggregates undergo rigorous laboratory testing for physical, mechanical, and chemical properties. These tests confirm compliance with industry standards, ensuring materials are fit for purpose and minimising risk throughout a project’s lifespan.
To supplement aggregate testing the lab is able to provide rock testing to ISRM publication to determine rock strength, density, water content to help engineers design and build foundations.
Why choose Normec?
At Normec i2 Analytical, we have the facilities and technical expertise to provide a comprehensive testing service to all aspects of construction design and implementation use of Aggregates and Rock.
Internal fleet
Our internal fleet of vans allow us to collect and distribute large volumes of aggreagtes and rock cores to our testing facilities. this allows full compliance to minimim masses and rock core lengths to be adhered to.
Our UKAS accredited laboratory can carry out testing to British and European Standards including the following:
