A year and a half ago, SVZ International (part of Royal Cosun) started digitizing audits and inspections. A few years ago, sister company Aviko did the same. Sister company Sensus also recently switched to digital inspections. The goal of introducing digital inspections was to save time and make it easier to compare all the info they collect. The inspections are carried out internationally at various locations in the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and Belgium. Heleen Stoffels is QA Officer and application manager (and point of contact) within the organization. She asked all locations about their experiences and shared her findings in a short interview.

Wide application across various departments

The Inspection Tool app is currently being used in various departments within the organization. For example, the Supply Chain department uses the app to conduct supplier audits. Heleen explains: "When an employee visits a supplier, they take the iPad with them and can quickly fill in the questions. On the way back, the audit can be completed and the report is ready by the time they return to the office.“ The Logistics department uses the app to check the measures required for the AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certificate. ”The online module allows this process to be completed quickly. The employee receives a notification in their mailbox that the audit is due, and once the tour is complete, the report is immediately available." The Quality department and the TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) manager make frequent use of the Inspections module based on various questionnaires. Additional tests are currently being carried out to run internal audits in all departments.

The audit can be completed on the return journey and the report will be ready by the time you get back to the office.

Ease of use

Heleen indicates that the Inspection Tool app is easy for everyone to use. “We find the software very user-friendly. We can easily enter new inspections into the system without having to program them ourselves. Now all we have to do is think about the questions when drawing up a questionnaire and the answers during the inspection.”

Time savings

Since the introduction of digital inspections, the company has saved time in conducting inspections and analyzing results. “We have experienced enormous time savings because reports are ready immediately and we can easily view trend analyses. This makes it much easier to compare different locations,” says Heleen.

Support

As application manager for QA Software at SVZ, Heleen is responsible for communicating with the support department, which she contacts if she has any questions. “I think the support is very efficient. Whenever I have a question, I always receive a quick response and the information I need,” she concludes.
