World Premix on Normec Robalab

World Premix gains customer trust thanks to feed and water analyses

The Van der Steijn family from Deurne has been active in the pig feed industry for three generations. "Our pig feed is known for its high quality. Because feed cannot always be checked visually, it is extremely important for us to take feed samples and have them analyzed,“ says Harm Frencken, responsible for sales and advice and shareholder of World Premix. ”Thanks to our collaboration with Normec Robalab, part of Normec Foodcare, in the field of feed and water analysis, we have earned the trust of our customers."

Personal advice based on feed samples

Harm can be found in the barns every day, working with farmers to position World Premix products as effectively as possible: "I check how our products are being used and advise the farmers. Taking feed samples is an important part of this. We have dry feed and slurry samples checked at Normec Robalab in Deurne, where we test for yeast and mold, dry matter, crude protein, pH, iron, magnesium, toxins, etc. Based on these results, we provide our customers with substantiated advice. I always visit them in person to discuss the results of the analysis. We want our solutions to really help our customers. We always focus on the most efficient solution to achieve the best results at the best price. This is how we gain trust and build a sustainable partnership.

About World Premix

World Premix has a long and rich history spanning three generations in pig farming. In 1938, Cor van der Steijn founded his own pig feed company, which was continued and expanded by his son Henk. Since 2017, Paul van der Steijn has been continuing the philosophy of his father and grandfather under the name World Premix. World Premix is the knowledge partner for the supply of premixes, concentrates, and complete feeds for pig farming with customized business support. Its customers include pig farmers, integrations, feed manufacturers, and distributors worldwide.

Feed analyses increasingly important

Since World Premix began focusing more on the sale of premixes for pig feed, feed analyses have become even more important. This has led to closer cooperation with Normec Robalab. They sell premixes to farmers who make their own feed. Unlike when supplying complete feed, they have less control over the end product. “If there are problems, such as poor appetite or intestinal complaints in the pigs, there is a reason to take a feed sample. This allows us to look at the cause of the problem together and find a solution,” says Harm.

Keeping costs low together

Harm explains: “The costs of the analyses must, of course, be weighed against the benefits. When a new customer starts with us, it is very important for us to check right from the start whether the actual feed values correspond to what we have calculated. By investigating this at the outset, you ensure that you are on top of the situation and can make immediate adjustments where necessary.”

Water analysis

It is important for pigs to receive both water and feed of the highest quality. If there are problems that cannot be seen with the naked eye, performing a water analysis adds a lot of value. Harm explains: "For some customers, we perform a water analysis in addition to the feed analysis. How do we work together to ensure that the animals' intake is optimal? Water testing is especially important when a farmer has their own water source. It is ideal for us to have our water samples analyzed by Normec Robalab."

Feed analyses are crucial

Timely and regular monitoring of the quality of animal feed, including both feed and water, is crucial for animal health and performance. World Premix does this very well and intensively for its customers,“ says Mario Willems. ”This means that they do everything in their power to ensure that their customers achieve the highest levels of quality and animal performance and that they are given the tools to make timely adjustments where necessary.

Pleasant cooperation

Harm talks enthusiastically about the collaboration with Normec Robalab. "Mario Willems is our regular contact person and communication always runs smoothly. Mario and I even know each other from before, when he worked for one of our customers. What's more, the laboratory in Deurne is only three kilometers from our head office, which is ideal. The frequency with which we bring in samples varies; sometimes we bring in a few a week, sometimes none for a week. There has to be a reason for us to have the feed tested. However, this is never a problem. They are very flexible and know where to find us if there is an issue. The colleagues at the laboratory reception are always there for us and there is a pleasant atmosphere. The process is also very clear: we deliver the samples, the experts at Normec Robalab get to work on the analyses, and we receive a clear report with the results.

The future

World Premix is currently active in various countries across Europe: the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Romania, and Italy. And let's not forget China. "There are still significant growth opportunities in all of these countries. I always say: we're more likely to be in more places than not. That shows the potential that's there. Thanks to the results of the feed analyses, we have a head start on our competitors in the market. Because we are on top of the results, we gain insight quickly and can respond quickly. Take antibiotic-free production, for example. As our company continues to grow, our collaboration with Normec Robalab grows with it. The more customers we have, the more feed analyses we need to have carried out."
