Maza chooses training courses from Normec Foodcare
All temporary workers who start working for Maza B.V. begin with an e-learning course. “This ensures that they are well prepared and that we know in advance what they are capable of,” says QA manager Martin de Winter. The company wants to expand this with a blended learning package for permanent employees. QA manager Martin de Winter explains that last year he was looking for a training package for temporary workers. “It's important for temporary workers to know how we work,” he says. “What's more, training gives them a sense of belonging.”
E-learning and training combined
Sjoerd Remmers, team leader at Training & Education, says that combining e-learning with on-site training is powerful. "We call this blended learning, and we have already successfully trained more than 800 employees using this method. The e-learning often reveals which aspects employees find difficult. We can then focus on these in the physical training. And we can highlight current topics in the physical training, for example because they have come up in the audit. Finally, the participants are given an improvement assignment so that they learn to apply the knowledge in practice. That completes the circle."
Customized
Martin opted for customized e-learning. “Customizing the e-learning didn't take us much time,” he says. "The Normec Foodcare trainer spent a day here to gather the necessary information. We then discussed which aspects I consider important for temporary workers and which I don't. Based on that, we removed or added slides. The trainer also took photos at our location so that employees can easily make the link with practice in the e-learning program. Finally, I did the training myself to check that there were no mistakes."
The QA manager likes the fact that the training is completely customized. “For example, it is important to us that employees can read Dutch well so that they can see whether the products have the correct labels. That's why we added a number of photos of labels to the training. And we supplemented the training with a few trick questions to see how attentively the employees are following the training.”
Blended learning
Martin has been working with this training for a few months now and is satisfied. “It's nice that I now know in advance what temporary workers are capable of. This allows me to deploy them in the right place, for example in production, on the packing line, or in labeling. He wants to start similar training courses for permanent employees. ”We will combine e-learning with on-site training. These will also be customized training courses. Each department has its own CCPs and points of attention. The intention is that these will be reflected in the training for each department, so that employees learn what is specifically important for them."
