New Commercial Manager strengthens AGF team
Meet Robert Schut
Normec Foodcare is proud to introduce its new Commercial Manager AGF: Robert Schut. Robert recently joined the commercial team, where he focuses on strengthening existing customer relationships as well as expanding the customer base in the dynamic AGF sector.
From logistics at defence to sales manager in Curaçao
Robert has always had an affinity for the dynamic food industry. "I have rolled up my sleeves in many places; my career cannot exactly be called boring. After my military service, I continued to work at Defence in the logistics department as a baker, cook and in the purchasing department for both the Netherlands and abroad." After his time at Defence - then in Curaçao - Robert moved into the commercial side there, but still with a link to the food industry. He started working as a Sales Manager, in the meantime taking marketing-related training and courses and emigrating back to the Netherlands after 13 years of experience as a Sales Manager.

In recent years, Robert has mainly worked with fresh produce. "I was Manager of the fresh products department at Sligro and responsible for everything in that department: AGF, bread, fish, cheese and meat products. I really enjoyed it there, but I missed the commercial side. I am someone who likes to be busy and win customers over." So in his new role as Commercial Manager AGF, all the pieces of the puzzle are coming together. After years of experience in the food and AGF sector, he is now making the step to a position where he can fully use his commercial drive and in-depth product knowledge. "The commercial playing field feels like coming home to me," he says.
Listening, learning and connecting
Robert's ambition is to build a lasting relationship with every client. Clients - big or small - need to know what to expect from Normec. Contact is therefore very important to Robert. "I like to keep lines of communication short and give the customer attention for a long-term cooperation. I believe you are only truly successful when customers see you as a partner. My approach is personal and transparent, because honesty lasts the longest." In the coming period, Robert wants to take the time to get to know all customers. His plan is clear: "Build trust by doing what you promise and always thinking along in solutions. His role will not only be advisory, but also connecting. Robert sees it as his job to identify needs in the market and respond to them with appropriate solutions from Normec's wide range of services.
A commercial bridge builder
What drives Robert is not just results, but above all connection. "I believe in lasting relationships. With customers, but also internally. We have a great team within Normec with so much substantive knowledge and I see it as my job to build bridges between them." With his hands-on mentality, he likes to tackle and follow through. ‘I am a real doer, sitting still is not for me’.
A true outdoorsman
Besides his passion for food and cooking, Robert prefers to be outdoors as much as possible. "You can regularly find me running through the polder or plodding along in a bootcamp group. I'm adventurous and I love to travel."
