What does Keurmerk Schoon entail?

The Keurmerk Schoon (Cleanliness quality mark) was established by Schoonmakend Nederland, the organisation representing the interests of professional cleaning companies and window cleaning businesses in the Netherlands. If your organisation is certified with Keurmerk Schoon, you demonstrate that you conduct business in a reliable and professional manner.

Requirements for Keurmerk Schoon

  • Your company must comply with the requirements of the NEN 4400-1 standard and the applicable SNA Handbook of Standards. As of January 1, 2022, companies with a turnover of up to 10 million euros may also opt for the Schoonmakend Nederland standard, which is based on NEN 4400-1 and the current SNA Handbook. In that case, inspections are carried out once every 12 months.

  • You must comply with the Code of Responsible Market Conduct — an initiative for sustainable market relations in the cleaning and window cleaning industry.

  • You must meet sector-specific requirements, such as clear communication between the cleaning company and the client, quality measurement of cleaning work, appropriate insurance coverage, and correct application of the collective labour agreement (CLA).

How can your organisation obtain Keurmerk Schoon?

On behalf of Schoonmakend Nederland, we audit organisations that already have or wish to obtain Keurmerk Schoon. Members of Schoonmakend Nederland undergo two inspections: one for the SNA quality mark and another covering the cleaning-specific requirements. If both inspections yield a positive result, you will receive or retain Keurmerk Schoon.

Normec has been conducting specialised audits for cleaning and window cleaning companies for over 20 years, enabling us to perform inspections quickly and with minimal burden to your organisation.

Methodology

How does the certification process work?

  1. 1

    Inspection

Prior to the inspection, you will receive an overview of the documents you can prepare. This typically provides a clear idea of the areas we will assess. On the day of the inspection, we review these documents and conduct several random checks.

  2. 2

    Report

Based on the inspections, you will receive reports evaluating the various aspects of your organisation. Any areas where the standards are not met and/or improvements are needed will be documented in the report.

  3. 3

    Frequency

We inspect your organisation once or twice a year to ensure continued compliance with the requirements of Keurmerk Schoon.
