‘Dry’ and ‘wet’ calibration
There are 2 types of calibrations: the ‘dry’ and ‘wet’ calibrations. A ‘wet’ calibration must take place every three years. In the intervening years, the calibration may be carried out ‘dry’. ‘Wet’ means that the meter is calibrated in its installed state (‘in situ’). In the ‘dry’ calibration, only the electronics of the meter are checked. Of course, it is also allowed to calibrate ‘wet’ every year. Especially in measurement situations where the meter can become contaminated, it can be advantageous to calibrate ‘wet’ annually.’
Our working method
We always conduct ‘wet’ calibrations. For this, we use a master meter that has been calibrated by a recognised calibration authority within the last year. During the ‘wet’ calibration, a quantity of water is passed through the system in the measuring range in which the meter to be calibrated operates under normal operating conditions. From the calibration, the measured quantities of water from the flow meter to be calibrated and from the master meter are recorded by means of a data logger and then compared with each other. We also check the plant's other peripheral equipment for proper operation.
