Crush value

Determination of the LA value in accordance with NEN-EN 1097-2. This is a test method for determining mechanical and physical properties of aggregates. This test determines the hardness of stony material.

Process

In this test, coarse material is used, sieved off at 10 to 14 mm. The material is placed in a drum with special steel balls, which is rotated. This drum makes 500 revolutions. The balls grind the soft material, leaving only the strong material. The ratio between the remaining strong material and the total amount of material put into the drum forms the LA value.
