Scrubber water testing
In order to reduce emissions of sulphur oxides, shipping has had to comply with the guidelines drawn up by the IMO since the beginning of 2020. Shipping companies operating in US waters also have to comply with the guidelines of the VGP. According to IMO guidelines, a ship may only run on low-sulphur fuels or on LNG. If ships continue to use the (cheaper) high-sulphur fuel, the installation of a scrubber is mandatory. Such a system uses seawater to wash the sulphur oxides out of the exhaust gases, thereby significantly reducing the ship’s sulphur dioxide concentrations. Because the scrubber water is discharged into the sea, it may only contain a certain amount of environmental pollutants.
Normec is happy to take the testing of the treated scrubber water off your hands.
