Water absorption & particle density
Determination of particle density and water absorption in accordance with NEN-EN 1097-6. This is a test method for determining mechanical and physical properties of aggregates. During the test, depending on the particle size, the saturated-, apparent-, dry densities and water absorption are determined using Pycnometers or submersibles.
Process
A Pycnometer is used to determine the density or specific gravity of a material, based on water displacement, a known volume and weight. Various densities can be measured, including apparent density, oven dry density and saturated surface dry density. After a 24-hour soaking period, water absorption can be determined.
Process
Three steps to certification
- 1
Sampling
You take a sample of the material to be analysed. We then collect the samples by courier.
- 2
Testing
In our lab, we perform the civil or environmental engineering tests that are applicable to you.
- 3
Reporting
You receive the results of the tests in a clear and unambiguous report.
