Legionella survey
As the owner or manager of a collective water supply, you are responsible for the quality of water you make available to third parties. This includes ensuring that the water does not contain legionella. The Drinking Water Decree states that so-called priority institutions (these are mainly hospitals and healthcare institutions) must have a legionella management plan. This means, among other things, that sampling with analysis for legionella must take place at least every six months. IL&T, the Environment and Transport Inspectorate, checks for compliance with this legislation. We do provide legionella surveys, but not legionella management plans. We are happy to refer you to our trusted partners, Kalsbeek and Aquaserva, who do offer these services.

Legionella prevention
We have been active for many years in the field of legionella prevention at industrial companies, shipping companies, building managers, care institutions, swimming pools, saunas, hotels, camping sites, marinas and other locations. Our customers want to be sure of the safety of their water, and we can help them with the control measures stated in the legionella management plan. We handle all mandatory inspections, sampling, analyses, and reporting. Any necessary actions in response to measurement exceedances can be managed and implemented by us, in consultation with you.
Our customers
Strict regulations for legionella prevention apply to various companies and institutions, particularly those frequented by large numbers of people or individuals with weakened immune systems. Examples of these high-risk locations include hospitals and nursing homes. However, the rules also extend to hotels, campsites, and truck stops with public showers, where individuals are at increased risk of contracting legionella. The owners of these establishments are required to implement measures to prevent legionella, such as identifying potential breeding grounds for the bacteria within their water systems.
Why a legionella test?
Legionella is a bacterium that causes Legionnaires' disease or Legionnaires' flu. The disease can occur when individuals inhale the bacteria, often through contaminated water sources such as showers or sprinkler systems. Swimming pools, saunas, and whirlpools are required to have a risk analysis and management plan developed by a certified company. These plans outline the necessary measures to minimise infection risks, including identifying potential growth areas for legionella in the water supply. Companies must sample and analyse water at these identified points every six months to check for legionella contamination.
