Gas Extinguishing System Inspection
Extinguisher gas system
The purpose of a gas extinguishing system is to extinguish a fire by delivering a gas into a room or onto an object. The extinguishing gas system is a combination of a fire extinguishing system and a fire alarm system. When smoke is detected, the fire alarm system will control the extinguishing system.
Extinguishing gases can be divided into two main groups: inert gases and chemical gases. The inert extinguishing gas reduces the oxygen content around the fire, extinguishing it. Chemical extinguishing gases act as a negative catalyst in the combustion process. This means that the chemical gas reacts with the combustion, extinguishing the fire. Extinguisher gas systems are usually used in locations where water and other extinguishing agents can cause a lot of damage. Consider, for example, a data center or a museum.

When to have an inspection?
It is necessary to ensure fire safety in buildings so that residents, users and the environment are not put at unnecessary risk. The Besluit bouwwerken leefomgeving (Bbl) contains the nationwide regulations for using buildings in a fire-safe manner. In some cases, the building code is deviated from and a gas extinguishing system is used as an equivalent alternative.
When the gas extinguishing system is used as an equivalent solution to a building code requirement, this system must be provided with an inspection certificate in accordance with the CCV inspection scheme. Of course, it is also possible to have an inspection performed on a voluntary basis. This can help to obtain assurance about the performance or status of your extinguishing gas system or as a second opinion.

What is being inspected?
An inspection of a gas extinguishing system considers the objective. The objective must be traceable from the Basic Design (e.g., PoR).
During the inspection, the system is checked and the associated controls are tested. Structural and organizational issues are also considered, such as plant management, storage, etc.

Inspection Certificate
An inspection certificate is required to demonstrate that your building is fire safe. During the inspection, the installations, structural provisions and organizational measures are assessed. If these points are all in order, you will receive an inspection certificate from us. With this you can show the insurer, among other things, that your fire protection meets the requirements.
Follow-up inspection
Once an initial inspection has been performed, periodic inspection must then take place. We do this to verify that management is being carried out properly and that the installation is still fulfilling its stated objective. The interval of this inspection is annual, or depend on the requirements set for the object.
