BRCGS Global Standard Food Safety version 9 was published in August 2022. From February 1, 2023, this standard will be used for assessment. With the publication of version 9, the BRCGS standard continues to evolve. Version 9 maintains its focus on management commitment and an HACCP-based food safety system with the aim of managing product safety, legislation, and quality for food products. In addition, product authenticity is mentioned as an additional component in the various standard elements. Food safety and quality culture is also an important theme in the new BRCGS version.
Changes compared to version 8
The new BRCGS version includes changes to the following topics, among others:
Option for mixed audits
Additional encouragement of a food safety culture
Addition of requirements for internal audits and inspections to make them even more comprehensive
VACCP and TACCP for supplier audits
Addition to requirements for product testing
Version 9 is available in multiple languages and can be downloaded from the BRCGS website.

BRC Food
The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety is a GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) recognized standard. It was developed in 1998 by British retailers. If you are BRC certified, your potential and current customers will immediately know that your products are safe, legal, and of high quality. This puts your company in a strong negotiating position.
