50% time reduction for Aviko B.V. with inspection module

Aviko B.V. has multiple production sites across Europe, all of which are certified according to the same food safety standards and audit standards of customers. There was a need for a digital system that could connect all sites and promote standardization and a uniform working method for performing internal hygiene inspections and system audits. Following a successful pilot with Normec Foodcare Online's QA software at one production site, the application has now been implemented at all sites in the Netherlands. Later this year, the application will also be implemented at the foreign sites.

What are the benefits of the inspection module for Aviko?

By using the Inspection Software, Aviko has cut the time needed to do inspections and audits by 50%. The Corporate QA-QC Manager at Aviko says:

"Conducting the audit with an iPad with an integrated camera and an inspection list on the screen facilitates the efficient execution of inspections and audits. Thanks to the synchronization between the iPad and the online inspection module, a report is automatically generated with a complete record of individual inspection points and a summary of the audit with a list of deviations and photos. Previously, this reporting was a rather time-consuming task and a separate system was used to follow up on action points from internal audits. What's more, situations where deviations were recorded with pen, paper, and a separate camera are now a thing of the past."

Deviations and actions resulting from the inspections and audits are displayed in the central overviews in the application. “The actions and their status are thus transparent to stakeholders at all locations, which also improves the quality of handling. In addition, statistics are used as input for annual verification and continuous improvement within the company,” says the Corporate QA-QC Manager.

How has the application been integrated within Aviko?

Aviko has been using the inspection module for quite some time. The application is flexible in its design, allowing it to be used by every customer, including Aviko, with specific settings such as locations, departments, rights, users, and templates. Because every company also has different requirements in terms of functionality, Normec Foodcare Online has an annual budget available for the further development of the existing modules. This allows customer-specific requirements to be realized based on prioritization. The Corporate QA-QC Manager explains:

"Together with Normec Foodcare Online, we looked at the application of the module within Aviko, after which points for improvement and requirements were identified. This resulted in an action list for implementing various modifications. The ongoing collaboration with jointly agreed improvement initiatives has resulted in a structure and design of the application that makes sense for Aviko. This collaboration and Normec Foodcare Online's willingness to make adjustments to the application at the customer's request is extremely valuable to Aviko. It gives us confidence in the future with a system that is constantly evolving."

Inspections with the iPad are carried out by quality staff at all locations in the Netherlands. "Our quality staff find conducting the audit with an iPad pleasant, efficient, and a logical, future-oriented improvement. The automatically generated reports and the method for handling actions provide standardization and acceptance within Aviko. The module is tailored to the need to digitize inspections and audits in accordance with the plan-do-check-act system. It offers us a clear structure that is easy to use,“ says the Corporate QA-QC Manager. ”The online QA software makes it easier to combine audits so that they can be planned and carried out simultaneously. In fact, the system can be used for all inspections, provided they can be carried out using a standardized inspection list," concludes the Corporate QA-QC Manager.
