ASVZ on its collaboration with Normec FSS
Safety as the top priority
ASVZ supports people with disabilities in experiencing ordinary life—including everything that comes with it: a dignified living environment, social contacts, meaningful daytime activities or work, and the freedom to make their own choices.
Naturally, safety is the number one priority. Normec FSS carries out the annual inspections of ASVZ’s fire safety systems in accordance with the CCV inspection schemes.
Safety as the top priority
ASVZ operates several residential facilities in the regions of South and Central Holland, Utrecht, and Brabant. Sjef Dingemans, Team Leader of Maintenance & Management, is responsible for daily maintenance at the Brabant locations. This also includes the annual inspections of fire alarm and evacuation systems.
Sjef: “Since 2019, Normec FSS has been performing these inspections for us. The installer handles the system maintenance in line with applicable standards, and then Normec FSS checks at both our main and satellite locations whether the system has been properly maintained and is functioning correctly. This is something we need to outsource, as we don’t have the expertise or inspection certification in-house. As a healthcare organization, safety is absolutely our top priority—we simply can’t afford to have systems that don’t work as they should.”

What’s really convenient is that Normec FSS delivers a draft report within five days.
Flexible collaboration
Each year, Normec FSS inspects the CCV-certified installations. In addition to the fire alarm system, ASVZ also uses a personal paging system, which is also inspected by Normec FSS. The inspection reports include recommendations where necessary—and ASVZ follows up on them.
Sjef: “Even a recommendation is enough for us to say: we’re not going to take any risks—we’ll act on it. We take Normec FSS’s recommendations seriously and trust in their expertise.”
“What’s really convenient is that Normec FSS delivers a draft report within five days. This allows us to correct any identified deficiencies in time. Minor deviations can be submitted for administrative reassessment. The inspector can then include the result in their final report without the need for a full reinspection. That’s a huge advantage, as a complete reinspection would cost extra. Thanks to Normec FSS’s efficient use of their inspectors and their pragmatic approach and collaboration, this process saves us money.”
Critical every year
The partnership with Normec FSS gives ASVZ peace of mind, knowing everything works as it should. But that doesn’t mean there’s never work to be done, says Sjef:
“Let’s continue to be critical together. Every year, we start fresh—and we approach each inspection with the same sharpness and attention to detail. It’s a very professional way of working.”
