Identifying customer needs
Frank Ramakers has been with Hertek since 2006 and has served as Manager of Maintenance & Operations for the past two years. When asked what makes Hertek unique, he replies: “We take the burden off our clients by mapping out their needs, wishes, and business processes and offering a tailored solution—whether it’s performing preventive maintenance, taking on management tasks, conducting inspections, or providing complete life cycle service. Fire safety solutions
Hertek develops safety solutions for the Dutch market in close collaboration with manufacturers. Their clients range from small businesses to large corporations, from utility buildings to industrial sites, and from new construction to renovation projects. This has allowed Hertek to build up extensive knowledge and experience. Frank: “We support and advise our clients from A to Z in the field of fire safety—from simply delivering a single product to drafting specifications and delivering and maintaining a complete fire safety solution in compliance with the latest legislation.”
Staying alert
The Dutch Building Decree 2012 and the ongoing trend of a retreating government have significantly changed the market, shifting more responsibility for fire safety to end users. “Of course, our clients feel responsible for preventing incidents—or, if they do occur, minimizing fire damage. But then there’s the reality of daily operations, where budgets, time constraints, and organizational challenges all play a role in meeting the required standards,” Frank explains.

A pragmatic approach—that’s exactly what Frank expects from a collaboration with an inspection body. “It’s great to be able to have pragmatic discussions with the inspectors from Normec FSS. Personally, I’m very satisfied with the improvements made over the past two and a half years. At first, it took some time to find the right rhythm, but now communication and inspections run very smoothly.”
