De Lekkerkerker Group about Normec Label & Specifications

De Lekkerkerker Group: Normec Foodcare brings more knowledge in-house

De Lekkerkerker Group – producer of cream cheese, cheese products, and herb butter, among other things – has been working with Normec Foodcare from the very beginning. They have collaborated with our laboratory and called on our labeling specialists for translation work. When they reached the point where the entire specification management process needed to be reorganized, it was easy to get in touch. The case was submitted to Normec Foodcare.

More knowledge, fewer hours

Auke Snijder is QESH Manager at De Lekkerkerker Group. He explains how the changes in the specification management department led to the decision to call in the specialists at Normec Foodcare: "We used to have someone on site who did specification management a few days a week. But over the past year, some strategic decisions were made within the company that reduced our product range, but made it broader and more international. It is challenging for one person to be familiar with all national and international legislation. In addition, the regular workload for creating specifications had decreased somewhat. So we actually needed fewer hours, but more knowledge."

This was the reason why De Lekkerkerker Groep decided to discontinue the position internally and outsource it externally. Auke: “This way, you end up with a party that does have that broad knowledge, but you hire fewer hours. That match is almost impossible to achieve with one person on site.

Accessibility

Currently, a specialist visits De Lekkerkerker Groep one day a week. Labeling specialist Sandra Scholtus performs tasks such as creating and updating specifications for end products, translations, and checking compliance with national and international legislation.

“Although Sandra only works for us one day a week, we can always contact Normec Foodcare if we have any questions.” Auke sees this accessibility as a major advantage. “You no longer have to worry if someone is on vacation or happens to be ill. This has made us much more flexible in carrying out our work.”

Certainty

The Lekkerkerker Group has set up its system in such a way that Normec Foodcare can work remotely. This major advantage was an important factor for them. Auke: “Of course, we have a fixed day, but if something really needs to be done, it can be done remotely. Fortunately, that hasn't happened yet. But the idea that service is always guaranteed gives us a sense of security.”

Good match

So far, the collaboration with Normec Foodcare has been a positive experience. Auke: "Of course, you have to get used to each other in the beginning, but the collaboration is going very well. Sandra is now part of the team and our company. That's how she is seen and that's how it works. I think we have aligned our expectations very well and, apart from that, it's just a transparent way of working. Informal, as befits the corporate culture. I think it's a good match. That's also what we already knew a little about the Normec Group.“

And the future? ”We've only just started, so I hope we can keep this up in the coming years. In addition, we've always been fairly connected within the Normec Group. I don't see that changing anytime soon."
