A human approach to inspections

Greater

Recently, Greater decided to switch to Normec VRO. From the very first inspection, they noticed a strong connection. We spoke with Rody Huibers, Manager of Operations & Partner at Greater, about the collaboration.

The switch to Normec VRO

Greater is an IT consultancy firm active in the field of DevOps (Development and Operations). They second IT professionals to clients and run projects with their own consultants. The company places great importance on the human aspect — consultants always have a say in their projects and are involved in the selection process for new assignments. After a difficult start with another inspection body, Greater decided to partner with Normec VRO, with the goal of obtaining and maintaining the SNA quality mark. Rody: “We’re very glad we made this move. Our experience with the previous inspection body was rather challenging. The inspection was very strict and fact-based, but we didn’t receive any support when things were unclear. Even though we did our best to meet all the requirements, the inspector simply stated that certain points weren’t compliant — and that was the end of the conversation.”

A human approach

“As a (co-)owner of a smaller company, you wear many different hats. You're an entrepreneur, a legal expert, a sales manager, a quality manager — and the list goes on. That makes it quite challenging at times to fully grasp a certification standard. When you’re able to work with a partner who’s willing to offer some explanation, that really helps.

Of course, the main purpose of Normec VRO is to conduct an inspection, and rightly so, but for us, it’s also an opportunity to check whether we’ve interpreted the standard correctly.

We quickly noticed that Normec VRO, like us, has a social and approachable mindset. I’d almost say we share the same DNA, and that makes for a pleasant collaboration.

During the first inspection, we had an in-depth conversation with the inspector about our company and structure. The inspector asked thoughtful questions about certain decisions we had made and showed genuine interest. Normec VRO approaches inspections in a truly human way there’s interest, room for conversation, and we learn something from it as well.”
