As a staffing and secondment agency, The Human Specialist supplies carpenters and electricians for projects across Europe under the labels BouwGenius and TecLine, respectively. Both labels focus on craftsmanship — and equally on caring for their skilled workers. As they say themselves: satisfied employees are productive employees. We spoke with Paul Muller (Managing Director) and Patrick van Steenderen (Manager Back Office).
Good and efficient collaboration
“We truly see our relationship with Normec VRO as a partnership, where it’s important to work together in a good and efficient way. And in practice, that’s exactly how it is. If I may offer one point for improvement, it would be that the final discussion could sometimes be a bit more concrete. On the other hand, the personal attention Normec VRO provides during inspection days is definitely a strong point. Rather than simply going through a checklist, the inspectors think along with us and help keep us sharp.”
SNA quality mark and NBBU membership reinforce each other
Paul Muller: “For us, the combination of the SNA quality mark and NBBU membership is very important. Even though it’s not legally required, the companies we work with often set it as a condition. It helps us demonstrate that we are a reliable partner who takes good care of its people. In my opinion, the link between the SNA and industry associations like ABU and NBBU should be made mandatory — it would only strengthen the position of the quality mark.”
Patrick van Steenderen adds: “From my perspective, the SNA inspection and the NBBU CLA check are valuable tools to assess whether we are a trustworthy partner for our clients, and at the same time, a good employer for our temporary workers. It’s also a useful moment to verify whether our systems and processes are well structured. Sometimes, inspections reveal areas for improvement — that can be a real learning opportunity. In the end, Normec VRO contributes to the quality of our internal processes and, therefore, to our overall reliability.”
