This year, Normec has taken an important step in supporting forest conservation efforts in the Copperbelt region of Zambia. We are helping small-scale farmers protect and restore the native miombo forests by planting 10,000 trees, equivalent to offsetting 1,000 tCO2.

Amsterdam, Wednesday, July 10 – Normec, a market leader in the TICC sector (Testing, Inspection, Certification, Compliance), has been acquired for an amount exceeding €2 billion. This transaction is financed through a combination of refinancing and a capital injection of €1.4 billion, raised by the pan-European investment fund Astorg. Normec will continue its acquisition strategy in Europe and is also exploring expansion opportunities in the United States.

In an era where rapid and significant decarbonization is not just ideal but necessary, the global consensus underscores the need to halve emissions by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2050 to mitigate climate change effectively. The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) stands at the forefront of this ambition, providing a robust framework for setting and validating corporate emission reduction targets aligned with the latest climate science.

Normec recently received great news from sustainability platform EcoVadis, the independent and internationally recognised agency that assesses sustainability performance of companies worldwide. For the second year in a row, EcoVadis rewarded our ESG efforts last year with a silver rating! Compared to last year, we showed an improvement in our score and we ended up with 66 points. This puts us among the top 13% companies rated by EcoVadis over 2023.

Nienke Faber-van Lokven and Tatiana Pershukova, representatives of Normec, visited Balamban and Carcar from November 7-8, 2023. Normec is one of the donors of the Water for Life Foundation that has specifically subsidized 6 public schools, 2,818 low-income families and a public hospital to give access to sustainable water from both Balamban Water District (BWD) and Carcar Water District (CWD).

But this is not the only charity in which we are involved. This year we planted 4,500 trees in Malawi. One tree for every Normec employee!
