Do you want to know more about the dangers of listeria and how to prevent infection? Then register for our Listeria course: a course from science and practice. Pregnant women and people with impaired immune systems are particularly at risk of this food infection caused by listeria bacteria.
In this course, you will learn all about risk management, sampling, sequencing and kinship analysis. This will allow you to quickly and specifically start working on a solution when infection occurs. Relevant practical examples are also discussed, so that you can apply the knowledge you have gained immediately.

Programme & topics
The Listeria course was developed by Wageningen Academy in collaboration with Normec Foodcare, the knowledge partner in food safety. During this course, you will have the opportunity to interact with different specialists. The topics are:
1. Characteristics and legislation
In this topic, we look at the characteristics of Listeria monocytogenes and the legislation surrounding food safety and dealing with foodborne infections.
2. Modelling and model fit
Here we zoom in on modelling growth of Listeria monocytogenes. But also how these models are made fit for use in practice.
3. Listeria studies
We look at the various studies on Listeria monocytogenes. We also look for example at the effects of food processing on the growth of the bacteria.
4. Challenge tests
During this session, we examine the effects of different temperatures and pH values on the growth of the bacteria.
Other topics to be covered include: the societal perspective, data and analysis and sequencing.
Practical information
The price for this course is €1495 per person. This includes materials, online learning, lunch, dinner coffee/tea/water and a closing networking drink. We welcome a maximum of 35 participants for this workshop. On the basis of attendance, you will receive a certificate afterwards.
