Quality assessment through the eyes of the consumer

Every week we measure the quality of fruit and vegetables in supermarkets in 7 countries. Samples of fruit and vegetables are analysed in our laboratory for relevant quality indicators such as texture, hardness, sugar content and acidity. We also assess taste, quality defects and overall appearance. This unique approach measures exactly what the consumer experiences. The quality analysis is combined with other factors such as price, variety, shelf life, supplier and country of origin. This provides a 360-degree view of fruit and vegetables in supermarkets and a complete insight into the performance of fresh products, up to the moment of consumption.

No batch enters the store before it has been seen by an inspector; the optimal quality assessment for delivery. In the AGF sector, we are specialists in inspection, drawing up specifications, meeting requirements and legislation, deploying (interim) inspectors and training professionals: from the Basic AGF course to P-modules and the course to Certified AGF Inspector. From start to finish, we contribute to controlling and continuously improving the quality of fruit and vegetables.
