Drinking water tests must be carried out in accredited laboratories that are also authorised to take samples in order to guarantee drinking water quality in accordance with the Drinking Water Ordinance.
Water is used in many production processes in, for example, the food industry. According to legislation, this water must meet several criteria to be suitable for use in the food industry. This includes drinking water (process water) and purified water coming from an in-house water treatment plant or after a water softener. An important aspect of the Drinking Water Ordinance is regular testing for legionella, particularly in hot water systems. The testing obligation applies in particular to commercially used and public hot water systems as well as apartment blocks with more than two residential units.
