From consulting to safety assessment of cosmetic products

In the field of application technology, the "Consulting Galenics" department has been developing new, individually tailored formulations for the cosmetics industry on a scientifically proven basis for 50 years. Our customers include medium-sized companies and trading houses as well as multinational corporations.

In galenics, we develop market-ready formulations for the entire range of cosmetic applications, taking into account the national guidelines as amended.

Our customers receive all services from a single source, from formulation development (galenics), through efficacy and compatibility testing, consumer testing and stability testing, to scale-up using Becomix technology.

Likewise, the task of the "Application Technology Galenics" department is the constant search for new high-performance and well-tolerated raw materials. For new raw materials, we offer application-engineering studies that lead to a suitable application profile in the finished product by establishing dose/efficacy relationships.

We offer sound technical application advice on existing products and series in order to be able to respond promptly to changes in legal requirements or consumer behavior.

Thus, we are able to make recommendations regarding the replacement of critical or no longer available ingredients.

If products do not show the expected results in compatibility or efficacy tests, Institut Dr. Schrader can provide assistance in finding the cause and offer solutions for optimized product performance.

We offer the preparation of safety assessments, taking into account the latest regulatory requirements. Benefit from our more than 50 years of experience and our activities in the fields of research, consulting, testing and analysis. For many years, we have been preparing safety assessments for all common cosmetics: from shampoo to foot cream. Our safety assessor is a PhD chemist with many years of experience in the field of cosmetics. The following contents were part of the extensive additional training:

• Exposure of cosmetic products / Percutaneous penetration.

• Local tolerance, immunology and sensitization

• Metabolism, kinetics and structure-activity relationships

• Carcinogenesis and mutagenesis

• General and systemic toxicology including risk assessment

• Reproductive toxicology

• Microbiological product safety of cosmetic products

In order to prepare a safety assessment, we require numerous documents. If not all toxicological data are available, we can complete the documentation in individual cases by means of database research. If product series with similar formulations are involved, inexpensive package solutions can also be offered. For this purpose, a preliminary examination of the formulations may have to be carried out.
