From ambition to action: How Marcel Jeschke brings ESG to life

Culture first: the foundation for real impact

For Marcel, ESG isn’t a separate project or a box to tick. It’s something that should show up in everyday decisions across the organisation. The real challenge? ESG often stays too abstract. Real impact starts when you translate ambition into actions people can actually use in their daily work.

At GP Prüfservice, Marcel focuses on themes that truly shape the organisation: diversity and inclusion, employee well-being, ethical collaboration, and smarter use of resources. For him, it all starts with culture. “A fair, respectful and supportive environment is the foundation for long-term success,” he explains. “When people feel valued and included, performance improves and organisations grow stronger.”

Small steps, big impact

One of Marcel’s key ESG priorities this year is simple, but powerful: reducing paper usage in administrative and HR processes. It might seem like a small change, but it makes a real difference. By digitising processes such as onboarding new technicians, GP Prüfservice is:

  • cutting unnecessary printing

  • increasing transparency

  • speeding up workflows

  • reducing administrative inefficiencies

For Marcel, this highlights an important lesson: progress doesn’t always come from big, complex initiatives. “You don’t always have to think big. Small, visible improvements can create immediate impact and bring people along.”

Leading by example

Marcel believes change starts with your own behaviour. At work, he focuses on integrity, reliability, and building a positive team environment. Outside of work, he actively reduces his own environmental footprint. “It’s hard to inspire others if you don’t live it yourself.”

Three practical lessons to get started

Based on his experience, Marcel shares three clear takeaways for organisations looking to make ESG more tangible:

  1. 1

Make ESG part of everyday work

Start where it matters most: daily processes. Digitalisation, reducing waste, and optimising workflows are often the fastest way to create impact.

  2. 2

    Put culture at the centre

ESG is not just about environmental targets. Well-being, inclusion, and ethical collaboration are just as important.

  3. 3

    Stay consistent

Real progress isn’t about one big move. It’s about continuous, small improvements that become part of how you work.

Marcel’s approach proves that meaningful change doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, it starts with a simple question: How can we work a little smarter, fairer, and more responsibly today than yesterday?
