Asphalt composition

  • Base Layer

    The underlayer must provide sufficient resistance to fatigue due to tensile stresses caused by traffic. In addition, this layer must be able to follow any uneven settlements without cracking.

  • Binder Layer

    This intermediate layer connects the base to the top layer and provides anchoring. A high degree of flatness is essential to avoid variations in the thickness of the top layer. Since this is the most heavily loaded layer in terms of rutting, it must have excellent resistance to deformation.

  • Top Layer

    The visible, uppermost asphalt layer, also known as the wearing course, is continuously exposed to traffic loads and atmospheric conditions. The quality of this layer is crucial for the road’s lifespan.

During and after the asphalt work, we assess whether it meets the required specifications for composition, compaction, air voids, and layer thickness. We typically conduct these inspections using asphalt cores, taken with our own drilling rigs.
