Simply Certification, a leading certification body for the construction and decarbonisation industry, has announced that it has joined Normec, a specialist in the testing, inspection, certification and compliancy industry.

This year, Normec has taken an important step in supporting forest conservation efforts in the Copperbelt region of Zambia. We are helping small-scale farmers protect and restore the native miombo forests by planting 10,000 trees, equivalent to offsetting 1,000 tCO2.

Amsterdam, Wednesday, July 10 – Normec, a market leader in the TICC sector (Testing, Inspection, Certification, Compliance), has been acquired for an amount exceeding €2 billion. This transaction is financed through a combination of refinancing and a capital injection of €1.4 billion, raised by the pan-European investment fund Astorg. Normec will continue its acquisition strategy in Europe and is also exploring expansion opportunities in the United States.

In an era where rapid and significant decarbonization is not just ideal but necessary, the global consensus underscores the need to halve emissions by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2050 to mitigate climate change effectively. The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) stands at the forefront of this ambition, providing a robust framework for setting and validating corporate emission reduction targets aligned with the latest climate science.
