Normec, a leading provider of TICC services, is delighted to announce the acquisition of Derwentside Environmental Testing Services Ltd. and Latis Scientific Ltd. (“DETS & Latis”), an industry-leading, UK-based provider of environmental and water testing services. This strategic combination solidifies Normec’s presence in the UK following the acquisition of i2 Analytical earlier this year and further strengthens its position as a leading pan-European TICC provider. The DETS & Latis management team, headed by Kirk Bridgewood, will remain on board and will drive continued growth in the UK market as part of Normec.
Normec is thrilled to add two lab locations, specialized in environmental inorganic and organic chemistry testing in both the North and South of the UK as well as an additional location in the SouthEast of the UK, specialized in water testing and related consultancy services. As customer focus and proximity are key elements of Normec’s service strategy, both parties recognized a strong strategic and commercial logic behind this partnership, underpinned by a shared vision of high customer service levels and quality.
Joep Bruins, founder and CEO of Normec commented: “It is truly great to see our North Western footprint being strengthened through the DETS & Latis activities and thereby further increasing our area of relevance in environmental testing, ranging from the UK, through France, Benelux and the DACH region into Poland. We are looking forward to working with Kirk and the team of 250 specialists, further building out a market leading position in the UK.”
Kirk Bridgewood, Managing Director of DETS & Latis commented: “We are very much looking forward join forces with Normec. We feel this provides a strategic advantage for DETS & Latis by being part of an organisation whose core activities closely match our own. We are committed to supporting our customers and we are confident this partnership will enable a much deeper and beneficial exchange of knowledge and development capability.”
Normec were advised on the transaction by Foot Anstey (legal) and KPMG (financial and tax). Suez were advised by Clearwater International (M&A), Grant Thornton (financial) and Brodies (legal).
